IBM Replaces Demand Mangement System with Pelyco System's SmartSpeadSheet™ and webPUBLISH™  Solution

IBM Implements Pelyco’s SmartSpreadSheet for Demand Management with Flexibility and Cost Effectiveness not found with SAP

Ottawa, Ont. and Silicon Valley, CA; Feb., 2011 - Pelyco Systems, a global provider of web-based, collaborative supply chain/logistics visibility and spreadsheet management solutions, today announced that IBM (NYSE: IBM), the world’s largest information technology company, has replaced their global Demand Management application with Pelyco Systems’ SmartSpreadSheet™ and webPUBLISH™ visibility solution.  The Pelyco solution has been able to reduce cost of the global demand management process while providing flexibility that did not exist within the SAP system.

IBM, the world's largest computer company and systems integrator with over 329,000 employees worldwide, regards a flexible supply chain as a strategic differentiator of the business, and considers demand fulfillment to be the heart of its planning and execution solution.  As an innovator in cost management and thought leadership, IBM was driven by a need to reduce cost and complexity associated with the DM application.  IBM’s implementation of Pelyco System’s collaborative SmartSpreadSheet and webPUBLISH Supply Chain Visibility solution has delivered a much more intuitive, user friendly and collaborative demand management solution and is currently being used globally as a front end to SAP.

The SmartSpreadSheet Demand Management application supports a global community of over 300 master planners across IBM at a fraction of the cost of the previous DM module.  In addition, the SmartSpreadSheet application is real-time; eliminating what was previously a batch process.   The latency that is often associated with data collection and deep "what-if" analysis has been eliminated with SmartSpreadSheet.  IBM needed their DM process to be tightly integrated with their supply chain planning tools and processes—not simply loosely coupled.  And that’s where IBM has been able to utilize webPUBLISH as part of their global visibility solution.

IBM’s results with this project are outstanding and are helping the company achieve a competitive advantage by realizing breakthrough performance across multiple operations performance metrics. Specific benefits include:

  • Faster and more reliable plan development at a dramatically lower cost
  • Clearer, quicker insight into the impact of changes as it relates to multiple functions of the business
  • Increased collaboration and fewer surprises
  • An ability to scale and mature the DM process to further maximize business opportunities and minimize risks

Pelyco Systems is a leading provider of collaborative Supply Chain/Logistics Visibility and Spreadsheet Management Solutions. Pelyco’s SmartSpreadSheet™ and powerful visibility and reporting infrastructure and toolset, webPUBLISH™, Smart Dashboard and Ad-Hoc Reporter remove the complexity of large scale and multiple planning systems, cut costs, and provide companies with the capabilities to leverage their existing data assets.
